Patna: Police have rescued Kaushalendra Kumar, who was allegedly kidnapped from the Maurya Lok complex on Sunday, from Bhagalpur on Tuesday. Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. However, in a surprising development, Kumar was also arrested and sent to jail over allegations of withholding money linked to land transactions.
According to police, Kumar’s wife, Manita Sinha, lodged a kidnapping complaint after he went missing on October 11. Investigators traced him to Bhagalpur using technical and scientific methods. The arrested suspects belong to Muzaffarpur, Banka, Ara, Bhagalpur and Rohtas.
Police said a longstanding dispute over land dealings existed between Kumar and the accused. Investigations revealed alleged financial transactions worth approximately ₹80 lakh through bank accounts. Kumar is accused of taking money from buyers and failing to return it. A separate case was registered against him following a complaint by Divyansh Kumar. Police are investigating both the alleged kidnapping and the financial dispute.
