Patna: Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav visited families affected by the tragic boat accident in Raghopur Diara, Vaishali district, and criticised the state government over alleged administrative failures. He demanded an impartial judicial inquiry, calling requests for explanations from local officials inadequate given the loss of several children’s lives.
Yadav alleged that insufficient medical facilities, a lack of oxygen in ambulances and delays by NDRF and SDRF teams worsened the tragedy. He claimed timely treatment could have saved several children. He also accused the government of halting the ring embankment project initiated during his government, demanding a permanent solution to recurring disasters.
Questioning the government’s spending priorities, Yadav demanded three decimals of land and special financial assistance for each affected family, besides standard compensation. He said victims’ families would meet RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in Patna. Yadav assured them that their demands would be strongly raised before the government in the Bihar Assembly.
