JDU candidate and sitting MLC Neeraj Kumar met party national president and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ahead of the Bihar Legislative Council elections. Kumar received the nomination document for the NDA-backed Patna Graduates’ constituency and thanked the party leadership for the responsibility. He is scheduled to file his nomination on October 5.

The Patna Graduates’ seat has witnessed internal differences within JDU, with Mokama MLA Anant Singh publicly opposing Kumar’s candidature and extending support to Jan Suraaj candidate Dr Anuj Singh. Anant Singh was also present during Anuj Singh’s nomination.

JDU has assigned Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, the task of resolving differences between Anant Singh and Neeraj Kumar through discussions.

Voting for eight Bihar Legislative Council constituencies is scheduled for October 23, with counting on October 27. JDU and BJP have fielded candidates for four seats each, while Jan Suraaj plans to contest all eight constituencies.
