JD(U) MP Kaushalendra Kumar has criticised Mokama MLA Anant Singh’s decision to oppose the party’s official candidate, Neeraj Kumar, in the Patna Graduates’ constituency election. Kumar said party leaders and workers should respect the organisation’s decision after JD(U) nominated Neeraj Kumar.
Anant Singh has publicly backed Jan Suraaj-supported candidate Anuj Singh and attended his nomination programme on October 1. He also participated in a roadshow supporting Anuj Singh, openly reiterating his opposition to Neeraj Kumar.
Kumar said Singh’s political history includes winning elections as an independent and on an RJD ticket, but argued that remaining within JD(U) while opposing its official candidate was inappropriate. He said the party’s decision should be considered important by all leaders and workers.
The disagreement has brought internal differences within JD(U) into focus ahead of the election. Party leaders have indicated that the issue is known to the leadership and may be addressed through discussions.
Voting is scheduled for October 23, with counting set for October 27.
