Brief By Newsbrief / 1:22 PM on 28 Sep 2026

Patna witnessed multiple protests on Monday as students, farmers, agricultural labourers, workers and women’s groups took to the streets over various demands. Left parties and other organisations organised marches from Gandhi Maidan towards Raj Bhavan, raising issues including permanent solutions to floods and drought, national disaster status, inflation, unemployment, migration and the agricultural crisis.

Security was tightened from JP Golambar to Dakbungalow Chowk, with barricades, police deployment and water cannons prepared to manage the demonstrations. The proposed route includes Gandhi Maidan, JP Golambar, Dakbungalow, Taramanadal, Income Tax Golambar and Bihar Museum before reaching Lok Bhavan.

Students of Bihar University of Health Sciences also joined the protests, demanding appointment of a permanent vice-chancellor and regularisation of academic sessions. Their concerns include delays in examinations and results.

Protesters are also raising issues involving land acquisition, bulldozer action, women’s safety, crime, labour rights and regularisation of contractual workers across Bihar.
