Bihar is preparing to host the 2030 FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup in Rajgir, with the state government discussing plans to organise the international tournament. Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh, Sports Secretary Manish Kumar and Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Singh were present during the discussions.
Shreyasi Singh said hosting the World Cup would provide Bihar with an opportunity to showcase its growing sports infrastructure and attract leading international hockey players. She said the arrival of top players could inspire young athletes and encourage greater participation in hockey across the state.
The minister also described the proposed tournament as an opportunity to create a stronger sporting environment for women and identify emerging talent.
Rajgir has previously hosted major international hockey competitions, including the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in November 2024. India won the title after defeating China 1-0 in the final. The successful event strengthened Rajgir’s profile as a venue for international hockey and future global sporting events.
