Ganga Flooding Triggers Severe Erosion in Bhojpur

Ara: Rising water levels in the Ganga have worsened the flood situation in Bhojpur district, with several villages inundated and their connectivity with block and district headquarters disrupted. Piparpati village in Balua panchayat of Barhara block is among the worst affected, where severe riverbank erosion has reportedly swept away dozens of houses.

Bhojpur District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena inspected the affected village, travelling by boat and on foot to assess the flooding and erosion. He directed the Water Resources Department and other officials to immediately intensify anti-erosion measures and protect the village.

Relief operations have also been strengthened for displaced residents. The DM inspected a community kitchen and instructed officials to ensure timely, quality food for all affected families.

Meena urged residents of low-lying and riverbank areas to move to safer, elevated locations. A 24-hour district control room has been established to monitor water levels and coordinate relief and rescue operations.
