Bihar Launches Door-to-Door NCD Screening Campaign

Patna: Bihar Health Minister Nishant on Wednesday launched the “Check-up and Treatment – Healthcare at Your Doorstep” campaign, describing it as a major initiative for the people of the state. The programme aims to screen nearly six crore citizens above 30 years of age for non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Screening facilities have been arranged across 14,500 health centres, with health workers visiting households to conduct preliminary examinations and provide medical advice. The campaign will cover diabetes, hypertension, common cancers, heart diseases, respiratory and lung disorders, and fatty liver disease.

Patients diagnosed with illnesses will receive treatment, counselling, telemedicine support and referrals, from Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to district hospitals. New medical equipment has also been provided to support the initiative.

Nishant said efforts to strengthen district-level healthcare have reduced referrals, while hospitals are being equipped to perform more surgeries. He urged people to undergo timely check-ups and avoid tobacco, gutka, alcohol and drugs, stressing that a healthy Bihar remains the government’s priority.
