Bihar Drug Crackdown: Over 10 Lakh Medical Drugs Seized in Seven Months

Bihar has reported a sharp rise in seizures of medical drugs and narcotic substances, prompting authorities to intensify enforcement against illegal trafficking. More than 10 lakh medical drug units were seized during the first seven months of the year, according to the report.

Authorities said 3,762 people were arrested by July 2026 in connection with drug-related cases. Seizures included thousands of narcotic tablets, over 10.71 lakh capsules, nearly four lakh codeine-based syrup bottles and substantial quantities of injections.

The crackdown also resulted in major recoveries of cannabis, charas and heroin. By July, officials reportedly seized 10,000 kg of cannabis, 3,678 kg of charas and 65 kg of heroin.

Officials have identified several districts and regions as drug-sensitive areas, including locations along the Nepal border and parts of Patna. Enforcement agencies are continuing surveillance and operations against narcotics networks, while authorities emphasise stronger action to curb the circulation of illegal drugs across Bihar.
