Dengue Cases Surge in Bhagalpur Village, Residents Seek Action

Dengue cases are reportedly increasing in Dharhara village under Gopalpur block of Bhagalpur district, with dozens of residents said to be affected. Villagers allege that health department teams have not yet conducted widespread testing or awareness campaigns despite the growing cases.

Residents attribute the rise in infections to increasing mosquito activity, stagnant water and poor sanitation in several parts of the village. Families of patients have urged authorities to launch immediate fogging and sanitation drives and spray bleaching powder to control mosquito breeding.

Madhubharati, whose family member is reportedly suffering from dengue, expressed concern over the alleged delay in medical intervention and demanded urgent action.

Village head representative Vijay Kumar said the block medical officer had been informed about the situation and stressed the need for a large-scale mosquito-control campaign.

Gopalpur PHC Medical Officer Dr Sudhanshu Kumar said some patients had tested positive at private hospitals and that fogging would be conducted. The health department is monitoring the situation.
