Bihar Universities Set for Uniform PG Syllabus

Bihar is preparing to introduce a common postgraduate syllabus across universities in the state, with more than 150 experts and teachers involved in drafting curricula for 46 PG programmes. The initiative aims to align courses with the National Education Policy 2020 and University Grants Commission guidelines.

A six-day academic programme is scheduled at Bihar Lok Bhavan, where experts will work on finalising the curriculum. The proposed framework will introduce a common 22-credit structure for every semester, while allowing students flexibility in selecting subjects according to their interests and career goals.

The curriculum will also provide opportunities for research, specialisation, skill development and optional coursework. Officials said the framework is designed to strengthen academic quality and ensure uniformity across Bihar’s universities.

The initiative is expected to create consistency in postgraduate education while preserving opportunities for students to pursue specialised academic and research interests.
