The Bihar government has carried out an administrative reshuffle, transferring three IAS officers and assigning new responsibilities to 12 Bihar Administrative Service officers. Among the notable appointments is Sanjeet Kumar, the former Jagdishpur SDO associated with the controversial Bharat Tiwari encounter case. Kumar has been appointed Deputy Collector, Land Reforms, in Supaul Sadar. He was earlier removed from his Jagdishpur posting and recalled to the General Administration Department in Patna, where he had been awaiting a new assignment.
Bharat Tiwari was killed in a police encounter in Bhojpur’s Biloithi village on June 17. His family has alleged that the encounter was fake and accused officials and police personnel of wrongdoing, allegations that remain subject to investigation. A judicial inquiry into the incident is underway. Kumar’s transfer to Supaul comes amid the inquiry and follows his removal from Jagdishpur last month.
