Bihar to Drop ‘Fail’ From Marksheets, Introduce ‘Eligible for Skill’

Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari has announced that the state will remove the word “Fail” from students’ marksheets and certificates. Under the proposed system, students who do not secure the required marks will instead be marked “Eligible for Skill,” aiming to protect their morale and ensure examination results do not define their potential.

The Education Department will amend rules and issue directions to the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). Students appearing for matriculation supplementary examinations will receive special classes for one month to help them prepare better and improve their chances of passing.

The review meeting also discussed preparations for Teachers’ Day celebrations, including the selection of one teacher from each district for a state-level award. Tiwari reviewed the Education Department’s finances and directed officials to ensure effective implementation of government schemes and optimal use of available resources.
