Dulhin Bazar Nagar Panchayat Plan Sparks Boundary Dispute

Patna: The proposed grant of Nagar Panchayat status to Dulhin Bazar in Paliganj subdivision has triggered tensions over boundary demarcation and village selection. Residents protested on Monday, blocking Paliganj-Bihta SH-2 for hours and demanding transparency in the administrative process.

Local leaders from ruling and opposition camps opposed the draft, warning that ignoring geographical and social realities could affect future development. CPI(ML) block secretary Amarsen, JD(U) block president Jaswant Kushwaha and farmer leader Utkarsh Yadav raised concerns over alleged bias.

Dulhin Bazar Circle Officer Shweta Sinha rejected the allegations, saying the draft was prepared according to government norms after assessing population density, lifestyle, commercial activity, education and infrastructure. Officials clarified that the published list is only a preliminary draft. Residents and representatives can submit objections, which will be examined before the final notification. Necessary changes will be made if valid discrepancies are found.
