Railway Board Orders Full Bedroll Kits for RAC Passengers in AC Coaches

New Delhi: The Railway Board has reiterated that passengers travelling on Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) tickets in AC coaches must receive a complete bedroll kit, ensuring they are treated on par with other confirmed passengers. The directive applies to all AC classes except AC Chair Car and has been circulated to all Zonal Railways and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for immediate implementation.

The move follows repeated complaints from RAC passengers about either not receiving bedrolls or being provided incomplete kits during their journeys. Under the revised instructions, every eligible RAC passenger must be given a standard bedroll comprising bedsheets, a blanket and a pillow.

Railway officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order and monitor its implementation. The decision is expected to benefit lakhs of RAC passengers across the country by improving onboard comfort and ensuring equal travel amenities for all eligible AC class travellers.
