Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has launched a 200-seater steamer service across the Ganga in Patna to improve connectivity for residents of the Diara region. Operating from Nasriganj’s Fakkad Mahto Ghat, the ferry is expected to provide a safer, faster and more convenient transport option for thousands of daily commuters. Under the initiative, residents of seven panchayats will be allowed to travel free of cost, reducing transportation expenses and improving access to essential services. The service is expected to benefit students, farmers, workers and patients by making travel to Patna easier while reducing dependence on smaller boats during the monsoon season. The government said the project aims to strengthen rural connectivity, enhance passenger safety and support economic activity in the riverine areas. Officials believe the new ferry service will significantly improve access to education, healthcare, markets and government services while boosting overall development in the Diara region.
