Political tensions flared in Patna on Wednesday after BJP and Congress workers clashed outside the Congress state headquarters, Sadaqat Ashram, during a protest. The BJP demonstration was organised in response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's protest over the alleged NEET paper leak and demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
According to reports, workers from both parties confronted each other, leading to stick attacks and stone-pelting that left several people injured. The two sides blamed each other for triggering the violence. BJP leaders alleged they were staging a peaceful demonstration when Congress workers blocked their route and attacked them with sticks and stones. Congress has also levelled counter-allegations over the incident.
Police deployed additional security personnel around the Congress headquarters and other sensitive locations to prevent further clashes. Authorities increased surveillance across the area and worked to restore order as the confrontation heightened political tensions in the state capital.
