Bihar's Mega Ganga Bridge Nears Launch, Travel Time to Drop Dramatically

Bihar's ambitious Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur six-lane bridge over the Ganga is nearing completion, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to inaugurate the project later this month. Built at a cost of nearly ₹4,988 crore, the 19.76-kilometre bridge, including approach roads, will directly connect Patna with Vaishali's Bidupur, significantly improving access to North Bihar. The project is expected to reduce travel time between Patna and Bidupur to around 30 minutes while providing quicker connectivity to Raghopur. Designed using modern engineering standards, the bridge has been constructed to withstand high flood levels and allow large vessels to pass beneath it. Officials believe the project will ease traffic congestion, strengthen transport links and accelerate trade, tourism and industrial development across the region. The bridge is also expected to transform Raghopur into a rapidly developing suburban extension of Patna, boosting economic opportunities and regional connectivity.
