Jan Suraaj has suffered another political setback ahead of the Bankipur Assembly bypoll, with entrepreneur and social worker Chetna Jha expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her move comes shortly after the departure of former Jan Suraaj leader Prof. KC Sinha, adding to the party's challenges before the crucial election.
Political tensions intensified further after anti-Prashant Kishor posters appeared at several locations in Patna. The posters accused the Jan Suraaj founder of betraying party workers, though their origin remains unverified.
Chetna Jha joined Jan Suraaj in August 2025 and was considered one of the party's prominent faces. Several other former Jan Suraaj leaders have also switched to the BJP in recent days.
The BJP has welcomed the new entrants, saying they will strengthen the party's organisation ahead of the bypoll, while Jan Suraaj leaders have criticised the defections and alleged that dissatisfied members were being lured away for political gains.
