Patna Junction, one of Bihar's busiest railway stations, is set for a major transformation after Indian Railways approved a ₹493 crore redevelopment project aimed at upgrading passenger facilities and modernising infrastructure. Construction is expected to begin by December 2026 and will be completed in phases by 2028 to ensure minimal disruption to train operations.
The project includes rebuilding the station with modern amenities, wider foot overbridges, escalators, lifts, improved accessibility for senior citizens and differently abled passengers, and better passenger movement within the premises. A large multi-level parking complex with dedicated spaces for private vehicles, taxis and two-wheelers will also be developed to ease congestion.
Railway officials said parcel booking and reservation counters will be temporarily relocated during construction. The redevelopment is expected to enhance safety, improve traffic management, and significantly upgrade the overall travel experience, making Patna Junction a modern, world-class railway station.
