Khunti Police have solved the sensational double murder of a woman and a youth whose bodies were recovered near the Tajna River on July 10, 2026. Six suspects have been arrested following an investigation involving technical and scientific evidence.
Police said the killings stemmed from a longstanding marital dispute and a legal battle over maintenance and child custody. The woman had reportedly gone with a youth from her village to meet her estranged husband and bring back her five-year-old child when a confrontation escalated.
The arrested suspects include prime accused Kundan Pramanik alias Sanjeet and five others. Police also recovered an iron rod allegedly used in the murders, a Scorpio vehicle and the victim's motorcycle.
SP Rishabh Garg said all accused have been sent to judicial custody, while further investigation continues to establish every aspect of the crime.
