Bihar Releases ₹700 Crore for ₹25,000 Incentive to Intermediate-Pass Girls

The Bihar government has released ₹700 crore under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana to provide financial assistance to eligible unmarried female students who passed the Intermediate examination in 2026. Under the scheme, each qualifying student will receive ₹25,000 to support higher education and reduce financial barriers.

According to the Education Department, more than 5.65 lakh female students successfully cleared the Intermediate examination this year. Eligible beneficiaries among them will receive the incentive directly as part of the state government's initiative to encourage girls to continue their academic journey.

The scheme is one of Bihar's flagship programmes aimed at promoting girls' education and strengthening their financial independence. Officials said the released funds will help ensure timely distribution of benefits across the state, enabling eligible students to pursue further studies without financial constraints and increasing women's participation in higher education.
