A burglary involving cash and jewellery worth approximately ₹20 lakh has been reported at the residence of retired DSP Surya Nath Singh in Patna’s Gardanibagh Police Colony, located near the official residence of the Bihar Director General of Police.
The incident occurred while the house was locked and Singh’s family had travelled to Lalganj to visit relatives. According to police, burglars allegedly broke open cupboards and lockers before escaping with gold and silver jewellery and cash.
The theft was discovered when the family returned home on Friday evening and immediately informed Gardanibagh police. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify those involved.
A Forensic Science Laboratory team has also been called to collect fingerprints and other technical evidence. Police suspect the accused may have surveyed the house before committing the burglary, and efforts are underway to arrest them.
