Orange Alert Issued for Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Across 18 Bihar Districts

The India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning across 18 districts of Bihar on July 11 as the southwest monsoon remains active.

East Champaran, West Champaran and Gopalganj are expected to receive widespread heavy rainfall. Isolated downpours are also forecast in Rohtas, Kaimur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Aurangabad, Patna, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Nawada, Gaya, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Begusarai.

The weather department has also predicted thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph in affected areas. Meanwhile, a Yellow Alert has been issued for several districts of Seemanchal and Mithilanchal, including Araria, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Siwan and Supaul.

Residents have been advised to avoid open fields, tall trees and electric poles during thunderstorms and follow official weather advisories while travelling.
