Patna: The Bihar government is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI), skill development and apprenticeship programmes in undergraduate education across government colleges as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Governor's Secretariat is preparing a common academic framework that will initially be implemented in 268 constituent colleges and 21 newly established government degree colleges from the next academic session.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by combining classroom education with practical, job-oriented training. Students will receive hands-on exposure through apprenticeship opportunities, helping them develop workplace-ready skills alongside their regular studies.
Industry experts and professionals from leading AI companies are expected to conduct lectures, workshops and practical sessions, offering students insights into emerging technologies and current industry practices. Officials believe the programme will significantly improve employability by equipping graduates with relevant technical expertise, professional exposure and real-world experience, preparing them for evolving career opportunities in a technology-driven economy.
