Bihar Human Rights Commission Recommends Interim Relief in Bharat Bhushan Tiwari Death Case

The Bihar Human Rights Commission has recommended that the Bihar government provide interim compensation to the parents of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari in connection with the high-profile death case. The recommendation was made under Section 18(c) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, which empowers the Commission to suggest interim relief while an investigation is still underway. The Commission also granted the state government an additional two weeks to submit a detailed response on the case. According to the post-mortem report presented before the Commission, Bharat Bhushan Tiwari died from a gunshot injury, with excessive blood loss and shock identified as the cause of death. However, the Commission clarified that the medical report alone does not determine liability and that the investigation is still in progress. A judicial inquiry headed by a former Patna High Court judge is also continuing. The Commission has scheduled the next hearing for August 3, 2026, to review the investigation's progress.
