Jamui Police have arrested alleged illegal sand mining operator Mantu Yadav during a late-night raid, recovering a country-made rifle, a country-made pistol and 10 live cartridges from his residence. Acting on specific intelligence and directions from the police headquarters, the Town Police Station team conducted the operation and took the accused into custody. Superintendent of Police Vishwajit Dayal said Mantu Yadav was wanted in several serious criminal cases, including attempted murder and alleged attacks on police personnel. A court had already issued an arrest warrant against him, and police had been searching for him for a considerable period. Following the seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition, a fresh case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Arms Act. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said the arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing crackdown against illegal sand mining and organised criminal activities in Jamui district.
