Bihar to Get Modern Local Trains with Charging Points, CCTV and Smart Coaches

Passengers travelling on East Central Railway’s local routes in Bihar are set to enjoy a more comfortable and safer journey as the Patna Division prepares to introduce two pairs of redesigned passenger trains by December. The upgraded coaches will feature mobile charging points, modern western-style toilets, washbasins, CCTV cameras, improved seating, enhanced LED lighting and better ventilation. Railway officials said the trains will also be equipped with advanced no-jerk coupling technology, reducing sudden jolts during acceleration and braking for a smoother ride. Sound-insulation technology will help minimise noise, improving overall passenger comfort. CCTV surveillance, especially in coaches reserved for women, is expected to strengthen onboard security and enable quicker response during emergencies. The rollout is part of East Central Railway’s broader plan to modernise suburban and regional passenger services across Bihar. Officials believe the upgraded trains will significantly improve daily commuting standards while bringing local rail services closer to the comfort and convenience of long-distance express trains.
