Patna Kotwali Police Station Ends Friday Prayers Inside Premises After 30 Years

Patna: For the first time in nearly three decades, Friday prayers were not held inside the premises of Patna's historic Kotwali Police Station after authorities revised the long-standing arrangement. The decision followed a complaint on the state's Sahyog Portal, which alleged that the large gathering during Friday prayers disrupted police work and public movement within the station compound. After reviewing the complaint, Additional SP Krishna Murari Prasad convened a meeting with the station house officer, the mosque's imam, mosque committee members, and local representatives. All parties agreed that while prayers at the historic Kotwali Mosque would continue as usual, the police station premises would no longer be used to accommodate the overflow of worshippers. Police officials said the decision was taken by mutual consent to improve security, administrative efficiency, and public access, stressing that it does not restrict religious practices or affect regular prayers inside the mosque.
