Patna: The Election Commission has announced that the by-election for Bihar's Bankipur Assembly constituency will be held on July 30, following the resignation of BJP leader Nitin Navin after his election to the Rajya Sabha. According to the official schedule, the notification will be issued on July 7, while nominations can be filed until July 14. Scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for July 15, and candidates may withdraw their nominations until July 17. Votes will be counted on August 3, with the entire election process expected to conclude by August 4. Bankipur, one of Patna's most prominent urban constituencies, is considered a BJP stronghold, making the by-election politically significant. Political parties are expected to announce their candidates soon, with campaigning likely to focus on infrastructure, employment, civic amenities, drainage and urban development. The contest will be closely watched as a key political battle ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
