Supreme Court to Hear Ram Mandir Donation PIL on June 29

Brief By Newsbrief / 3:06 PM on 25 Jun 2026

The Supreme Court has scheduled June 29 to consider a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging financial irregularities in donations made to the Ram Mandir. The petition seeks the formation of an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the management and utilisation of funds by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Filed by advocates Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav, the PIL also requests registration of an FIR and a comprehensive probe into the alleged discrepancies. During the hearing, the bench noted that the petition had been registered but could not be listed earlier due to procedural objections raised by the registry. The court has now directed that the matter be placed before it on June 29 for consideration. Meanwhile, the petition also refers to an ongoing SIT inquiry ordered by the Uttar Pradesh government into related allegations. The Supreme Court will decide whether to formally entertain the petition after preliminary scrutiny.
