Four Killed, Several Injured in Pickup-Tempo Collision in Motihari

A tragic road accident claimed four lives and left several others injured in Bihar’s East Champaran district on Wednesday. The incident occurred near Nayaka Tola on the Chhapwa-Bettiah main road under Sugauli police station limits, when a speeding pickup van collided head-on with a passenger tempo.

According to local reports, the tempo was carrying passengers toward Chhapwa when the pickup, coming from the opposite direction, crashed into it with great force. The impact completely damaged the tempo and triggered panic among nearby residents. Villagers and passersby rushed to the spot, rescued trapped passengers, and informed the police.

The deceased were identified as Rubina Khatoon, Aysa Khatoon, seven-year-old Jayad Khan, and Bhairon Sah. Several injured passengers were admitted to a nearby Community Health Centre, while four critically injured victims were referred to Bettiah for advanced treatment.

Police have seized both vehicles, sent the bodies for post-mortem examination, and launched a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident.
