Degree College Protest Turns Violent in Nalanda, Police Launch Crackdown

A protest demanding that a degree college be operated from the Nagarnausa block headquarters in Bihar’s Nalanda district turned violent on Thursday after alleged stone-pelting on police personnel. The demonstration, initially peaceful, escalated during a road blockade on NH-431A near the local tempo stand, causing major traffic disruptions and long vehicle queues.

According to officials and eyewitnesses, some miscreants within the crowd allegedly began hurling stones at police, prompting authorities to deploy additional security forces to restore order. The area briefly witnessed chaos before police dispersed the crowd and brought the situation under control.

Following the incident, security personnel conducted flag marches across Nagarnausa market, major intersections and other sensitive locations. Authorities said the situation remains under control, though tensions persist.

Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage and video recordings to identify those involved in the violence. Officials have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
