IMD Issues Rain Alert as Monsoon Set to Intensify Across Bihar

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in north Bihar, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds from June 19 as monsoon activity gains momentum across the state. Weather officials said significant changes are expected over the next 48 hours, bringing relief from intense heat in many areas.

Several districts, including parts of East Champaran, West Champaran and Sitamarhi, may experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph. Recent pre-monsoon showers have already brought down temperatures in some regions, though a few districts continue to report heatwave-like conditions.

According to meteorologists, advancing monsoon currents and favorable upper-air patterns are strengthening rainfall activity across Bihar. Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and follow weather advisories. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as widespread rainfall is expected to improve conditions across much of the state.
