Patna: The Bihar government has initiated a statewide monitoring drive targeting absenteeism among government school teachers, following repeated complaints of educators marking attendance and leaving schools without conducting classes. Education Minister Sunil Kumar Tiwari stated that every complaint will be thoroughly investigated and strict disciplinary action will be taken against those found guilty.
According to the Education Department, penalties could range from warnings and suspension to dismissal in serious cases. District and block-level officials have been directed to intensify school inspections, verify teacher attendance, and monitor classroom activities regularly.
The government says the initiative is aimed at improving accountability and strengthening the quality of education in state-run schools. Officials have emphasized that teachers are responsible for ensuring regular classroom instruction and maintaining student engagement throughout the school day.
The administration believes stricter oversight will help improve learning outcomes, reduce absenteeism, and reinforce discipline across Bihar’s government school system.
