Bihar Releases ₹999.84 Crore for University Salaries and Pensions

The Bihar government has released ₹999.84 crore to ensure timely payment of salaries, pensions and pending dues for employees and retirees of state universities and degree colleges. Approved by the Higher Education Department, the fund covers regular and arrear payments for the period from March to May 2026, providing significant relief to thousands of beneficiaries.

According to Higher Education Director Prof. N.K. Agrawal, ₹419.05 crore has been earmarked for salaries of serving employees, while ₹580.79 crore will be used for pensions and other retirement benefits. Magadh University received the highest allocation of ₹147.28 crore, followed by BRA Bihar University with ₹146.09 crore and Lalit Narayan Mithila University with ₹144.09 crore.

Other major beneficiaries include Patliputra University, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Jai Prakash University, Veer Kunwar Singh University and Patna University. The department has directed all vice-chancellors and finance officials to complete formalities immediately and ensure direct transfer of funds to beneficiaries without delay.
