The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) faced a significant setback after senior leader and former Bihar minister Shivchandra Ram announced his resignation from all party positions. Speaking at a press conference in Patna, Ram became emotional as he described the decision as one of the most painful moments of his political career.

A longtime RJD leader associated with the party since the early 1990s, Ram said he had consistently worked to promote the ideals of social justice championed by Lalu Prasad Yadav and economic justice advocated by Tejashwi Yadav. However, he alleged that he had been subjected to injustice within the organization.

His resignation comes amid growing controversy surrounding RJD’s candidate selection for the Bihar Legislative Council elections. Ram claimed that the decision had disappointed many supporters, particularly among Dalit and backward communities. Political observers believe the development could intensify discussions about internal dissent and leadership challenges within the party ahead of crucial political contests.
