Bihar on High Alert: IMD Issues Orange Warning for 25 Districts After Lightning Kills Eight

Bihar has been placed on high weather alert after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange warning for 25 districts following intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and deadly lightning strikes. Officials confirmed that at least eight people lost their lives in separate lightning-related incidents across the state, triggering concern among authorities.

The sudden weather shift, influenced by moisture from the Bay of Bengal and western disturbances, brought strong winds, heavy rain, and a sharp drop in temperatures in several regions. The IMD warned that stormy conditions, accompanied by gusty winds and lightning, are likely to continue in parts of Bihar over the next few days.

Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors during thunderstorms and avoid open fields, trees, electric poles, and water bodies. While rainfall may bring temporary relief from heat, experts warn humid conditions and rising temperatures could return later in June.
