Big Crackdown on Private Schools in Bihar: Govt Orders Statewide Inspection Over Fee and Safety Complaints

The Bihar government has announced a month-long statewide inspection of all recognized private schools from July 1 to July 31 to ensure compliance with education norms and improve accountability. The move follows growing complaints from parents regarding arbitrary fee collection, inadequate facilities, and alleged violations of the Right to Education Act.

Education Department Additional Chief Secretary Vinod Singh Gunjiyal has directed divisional commissioners to supervise the special campaign, with district magistrates, education officers, sub-divisional officials, and block-level authorities joining the process.

Inspection teams will assess infrastructure, classroom conditions, teacher-student ratios, sanitation, drinking water, playgrounds, and fee collection practices. Officials will also verify whether schools are providing facilities mandated under education laws.

Authorities warned that institutions found violating regulations could face strict action, signaling the government’s intent to strengthen transparency, student safety, and educational standards across Bihar.
