Panic at Begusarai Bank: Accidental Gunfire by Cash Van Guard Leaves Employee Injured

Panic gripped Begusarai’s busy Marwari locality after a sudden gunshot inside the main branch of UCO Bank left a bank employee seriously injured. The incident occurred during a routine cash transfer operation when a cash management company’s security guard allegedly fired accidentally from his licensed weapon.

According to officials, 31-year-old daily wage office assistant Anil Dixit was loading a cash box into the SIS cash van when the firearm reportedly discharged, striking him in the thigh. Chaos broke out inside the bank as customers and employees rushed for safety.

The injured employee was immediately shifted to a private hospital, where he remains under treatment. Police detained the cash van guard, Varun Singh, and seized the weapon for investigation. Authorities suspect accidental firing but are also probing possible negligence in firearm handling and security protocol violations.
