Ev Demand Surges in Patna as 600-KM Range Vehicles Drive Waiting Lists Past 100

Brief By Newsbrief / 5:47 PM on 28 May 2026

Patna is witnessing a sharp rise in demand for electric vehicles, particularly models offering a driving range of nearly 600 kilometres on a single charge. Automobile dealers across the city reported growing waiting lists, with bookings for some premium EVs crossing 100 units amid increasing consumer awareness and improving charging infrastructure.

Industry representatives attribute the surge to rising fuel prices, lower running costs and government incentives promoting eco-friendly mobility. Buyers, especially young professionals and first-time vehicle owners, are increasingly opting for long-range EVs to reduce dependence on conventional fuel-powered transport.

Dealers estimate that nearly 40–50 electric cars and 60–70 electric two-wheelers are currently sold in Patna every month. Showrooms are also witnessing higher footfall as companies offer financing support, exchange benefits and charging facilities, signalling strong future growth in Bihar’s expanding electric vehicle market.
