A sense of shock spread across Motihari after the body of a man was discovered in a maize field near the Chhapwa-Harsiddhi road on Tuesday morning, raising suspicions of murder. The deceased, identified as Ramesh Sah, a resident of Sangrampur police station area, had reportedly left home two days earlier claiming he was travelling to Kathmandu.
According to family members, Ramesh neither reached Kathmandu nor returned home. His body was found near a cold storage facility, with visible injury marks, including a deep wound on the back of his head and suspected sharp weapon injuries on his abdomen. Enraged relatives and villagers briefly blocked the road, demanding justice.
Police have launched a detailed investigation involving forensic experts, dog squad teams and technical surveillance. CCTV footage and mobile call records are being examined, while officials await the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
