Indian-Origin Woman Shot Dead in US Store, Gujarat Family Left Devastated

A tragic incident in the United States has once again created fear and concern among Indians living abroad, especially within the Gujarati community. Meghna Patel, a young woman from Gujarat’s Mehsana district, was reportedly shot dead while working at a store in America. The heartbreaking incident has left her family devastated and shocked people both in India and overseas.

According to reports, Meghna Patel belonged to Jantral village in Visnagar taluka of Mehsana district and had been living in the US for nearly ten years. She worked at a local store and regularly supported her family financially. Relatives described her as hardworking, calm and dedicated. News of her sudden death spread grief across her village and among people who knew her.

The incident reportedly took place while Meghna was working inside the shop. An unidentified man entered the store pretending to be a customer. CCTV footage showed that the attacker had covered most of his body, wearing gloves, a face mask and a cap, making identification difficult.

Witnesses said the man initially spoke with Meghna for a few moments before suddenly pulling out a gun and firing multiple shots at her. The attack happened within seconds, leaving everyone inside the store terrified. Meghna collapsed on the spot after being shot. Reports also suggest the attacker grabbed some items from the store before escaping.

Following the incident, Meghna’s family members broke down in grief. Villagers and members of the Gujarati community have demanded strict action against the accused. The case has also reignited discussions around the safety of Indian citizens working and living abroad.
