Centre Launches ‘Kisan Mitra Chhadi’ to Protect Farmers from Snakes and Scorpions

In a major step toward improving farm safety, the Union government has introduced the “Kisan Mitra Chhadi,” a smart safety device aimed at protecting farmers from snakes, scorpions and other venomous creatures during agricultural work. The innovative tool is designed to provide early warnings, especially for farmers working in dense crop fields or low-visibility conditions at night.

According to officials, the device is equipped with advanced sensors capable of detecting movement, body heat and the presence of dangerous creatures within a certain range. Once a threat is identified, the stick alerts users through vibrations and warning signals, giving farmers enough time to react safely.

The smart stick also includes a solar-powered torch, making it useful during nighttime farming activities. Authorities say the initiative reflects growing efforts to integrate technology into agriculture, not just for productivity, but also for enhancing farmer safety in rural areas.
