Saran Eviction Drive Turns Violent, Police Team Attacked During Anti-Encroachment Operation

Tension flared in Bihar’s Saran district after a police and administrative team conducting an anti-encroachment drive was allegedly attacked during a government land eviction operation. The incident took place in Bishunpura village under Jalalpur block, where officials had arrived to clear alleged encroachments from government land linked to a local gram kachahari building.

According to officials, villagers opposed the action and tensions escalated when some residents questioned the land measurement process and claimed ownership of the disputed land. The protest reportedly turned violent, with stones allegedly hurled at officials, damaging a government vehicle.

Authorities said the Circle Officer and accompanying staff narrowly escaped injury, and no serious casualties were reported. Officials added that notices had been issued earlier to remove encroachments, but compliance was not achieved.

Police have registered FIRs against those allegedly involved and launched an investigation to identify individuals responsible. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continuing anti-encroachment drives across the district.
