Bihar’s anti-corruption drive intensified after the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) recovered ₹40 lakh in cash during coordinated raids linked to a Road Construction Department engineer accused of possessing disproportionate assets. Searches were conducted at multiple locations in Patna and Jamui, where investigators also seized key financial records, land papers, bank account details, and investment-related documents.
Officials said the operation is part of an ongoing probe into alleged illegal wealth accumulation beyond known income sources. Preliminary findings reportedly suggest assets worth several crores, significantly exceeding the engineer’s declared earnings. Investigators are now examining ownership records, financial transactions, and possible links to relatives or associates to trace the source of the suspected assets.
The raids, carried out throughout the day, involved multiple EOU teams and focused on gathering evidence for the disproportionate assets case. Authorities stated that further legal action may follow depending on the outcome of the investigation and forensic examination of seized documents.
