The Bihar government has introduced sweeping regulations for private schools, banning re-enrollment fees and warning institutions of derecognition for violating education norms. Under the new directive issued by the Education Department, schools will no longer be allowed to impose prohibited charges or compel parents to purchase books, uniforms, or study materials from selected vendors.
Authorities have instructed schools to publicly display detailed fee structures on notice boards and official websites to ensure transparency and prevent arbitrary fee hikes. Officials clarified that while schools may collect approved fees, any hidden or unjustified charges will invite strict action.
The government has also emphasized that students cannot be denied classes, examinations, or results due to unpaid fees, reinforcing children’s right to education. Additionally, schools will require approval before making frequent uniform or textbook changes, reducing unnecessary financial burdens on parents across the state.
