Bihar Approves Recruitment, Promotion for Over 20,000 Police Posts

The Bihar government has approved the recruitment and promotion process for 20,937 police posts, aiming to strengthen the state’s law enforcement system and improve public safety. The Home Department has initiated the implementation of decisions approved by the Samrat Chaudhary-led cabinet, with nearly half of the vacancies reserved for departmental promotions.

According to officials, 10,488 posts will be filled through direct recruitment, while 10,459 positions will be filled through internal promotions. The move is expected to generate employment opportunities while boosting the efficiency and operational strength of Bihar Police.

The decision also includes appointments across various ranks to address growing policing needs in the state. Officials stated that the expansion is part of the government’s broader plan to modernise the police force and improve law-and-order management.

The Home Department has already issued notifications to relevant authorities, and the recruitment and promotion process is expected to begin soon across Bihar.
