Bihar CM Samrat Chaudhary Walks to Secretariat, Urges Fuel Conservation Amid Price Hike

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Friday walked from his official residence to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, launching a symbolic initiative to promote fuel conservation amid rising petrol and diesel prices. The move follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for reduced fuel consumption as global energy concerns intensify.

Earlier this week, Chaudhary announced several measures aimed at cutting fuel usage across the state. The Bihar government has decided to reduce the number of vehicles in the Chief Minister’s convoy and urged ministers, public representatives, and board members to avoid using extra vehicles during official events.

The administration has also encouraged citizens to rely more on public transport, including metro services, buses and auto-rickshaws. Government departments have been directed to prioritise video conferencing for meetings to reduce unnecessary travel. Officials have additionally been advised to promote work-from-home practices and observe a weekly “No Vehicle Day” to minimise fuel consumption and environmental impact
