Will Bihar’s ₹1,453 Crore Bihta Airport Miss Its 2027 Deadline? Fresh Delays Raise Big Questions

Bihar’s ambitious ₹1,453 crore Bihta International Airport project is progressing through multiple phases, but concerns are mounting over whether it will be ready by the April 2027 target date. Key infrastructure work, including the apron, taxiways and boundary wall, is moving forward at a steady pace, officials said.

Construction of the apron area, where aircraft will be parked and serviced, is reportedly underway, while boundary wall work is being completed in phases to strengthen airport security. Authorities have also made progress in land acquisition, a crucial component for the airport’s expansion.

However, delays surrounding the passenger terminal building have sparked concerns about timeline slippages. Coordination between the Indian Air Force, Airports Authority of India (AAI), and contractors is considered vital for smooth execution, particularly for taxiway construction.

Once completed, the expanded airport is expected to significantly boost regional air connectivity, economic growth and investment opportunities in Bihar.
